- Southeastern University obtaining a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education; Masters in Arts degree in Education specializing in Curriculum Instruction from Nova Southeastern University
- Mrs. Burek has been teaching at McKeel Academy Central since the inception of the school in 2003.
- Honors: Who's Who among America's Teachers (2005); National Board Certified Teacher (2008 -2018); Teacher of the Year (2010); Polk County Charter School Teacher of the Year (2010)
